Virginia Morton
Virginia Morton, 91, passed away on November 20, 2017 due to complications with pneumonia and related issues.
Virginia was born on Sept, 20, 1926, in Glenmary, Tn. After graduation from Glenmary High School, she worked many years at Harriman Hosiery Mill before settling on Mowbray Mountain. She was extremely proud and very active in her community, Mowbray Presbyterian Church and Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department. She loved the rural life, having a big garden, raising chickens and quilting.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Edna Fairchild; brother, James Fairchild; sisters, Charlotte Harmon and Barbara Jenkins; son, Van Hughett and husband, Austin Morton.
She is survived by her sons, Bill (Gail) Hughett and Charles Hughett; grandchildren, Buffy Hughett, Brandy Hughett, Amanda Seel, Sonia Moore, Brandon Hughett and Crystal Hughett and several great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 4-8 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Tom Shomate officiating at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel. Interment will follow after at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are held by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
