Thomas Lamar Ballew, 79, of Hixson, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 in a local hospital.
He was born Feb. 27, 1938, in Chattanooga to the late Thomas Eugene and Dora Juanita Ballew.
Mr. Ballew was a 1956 graduate of Rossville High School.
He was a United States Air Force veteran and his love for planes drew him to enlist. Anytime he heard a plane he was the first outside to tell you exactly what type of plane it was. He was a member of Abba’s House. After 42 years of service, he retired from Combustion Engineering.
His brother, Duane Ballew preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Ann Ballew; daughter, Kim (Gary) Hollowell of Hixson; granddaughters, Lauren Hollowell of Hixson, Emily Hollowell of Nashville, and Heather (Tom) Phelps of Chattanooga; great-grandsons, Oliver and Sawyer Phelps of Chattanooga; brothers, Gene (Kay) Ballew of Crossville, and Ralph (Sandy) Ballew of Tulsa; sister-in-law, Diane Ballew of Rossville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 6, from 4-8 p.m. at the North Chapel.
A private graveside service will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
