Elizabeth Anne (Zarzour) Morrison, 94, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2017, with family at her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Roy Morrison; her parents, Louise and Richard Zarzour; sisters, Gebe Bruce, Beatrice Wilson, Zakie Salem, Margaret Adams; brothers, Ed Zarzour, Mike Zarzour and Louis Zarzour.  She was also preceded in death by several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was a lifelong practicing Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She was born in Chattanooga, but spent her young years in Birmingham, where she attended St. Clement Catholic School and Ramsey High School.  She returned to Chattanooga at the age of 16 and graduated from City High School in the class of 1941.

After high school, Elizabeth graduated from Edmondson Business School. Rather than pursuing an administrative career, Elizabeth, along with her sisters, owned and operated Zarzour’s Restaurant on Broad Street. She married James Roy Morrison in 1955 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

In addition to raising their two children, Elizabeth worked with the Avon Company, sold real estate with Gloria Sutton and Heritage Realty, and worked with her son at Gary’s Coffee Shop in the Doctor’s Bldg on McCallie Avenue. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, bowling, bingo, slots, working crossword puzzles, game shows and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest passions in life were her love of God, family, babies, dancing, and animals of every sort.

She is survived by her children, Gary Morrison and Karen (Rich) Ryland, all of Chattanooga, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Holy Family Hall at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on South Moore Road on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 9-11 a.m. The funeral Mass, presided by Reverend Michael F. Nolan will begin at 11 a.m. also at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The interment will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Shana Longshore (Director of Nursing), Scott Hill, (PA), and the entire Team at Siskin Rehabilitation Hospital West Building 2nd floor for the excellent care she received in their facility; Dr Annesofie Dubeck, Dr Rohan Shah, caregivers Ashley, Betty; and Heather.  A special thank you is also extended to her caregivers Angela Montgomery, Pam Ramsey, Cora Summers and Angela Wooten for their devotion to her care over the last 18 months. Lastly, a special word of thank you to Chris Beckstrand, Nena Mitchell and the entire staff at Morning Pointe (Shallowford Rd), Anita Graves, and Leona White (Hearth Hospice) for the superior care she received from each of them. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 501 South Moore Road, Chattanooga Tn. 37412 or to the Humane Educational Society, 212 North Highland Park Ave., Chattanooga Tn. 37404.

Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Rd. East Ridge, Tn. 37412.
