The Regional Planning Agency staff is recommending denial for a plan by opthalmologist Deborah Distefano to convert a Gunbarrel Road medical office into retail.
Todd Plain is the applicant on the rezoning request on the property at 1815 Gunbarrel owned by Dr. Distefano.
The medical center includes 4,166 square feet of space and is on a .86-acre lot.
The request is for a change from R-4 Special Zone to C-2 Convenience Commercial Zone.
The staff noted that the Hamilton County Community Plan recommends office use for the site.
The proposal would continue a precedent for future requests to allow retail and commercial uses to expand south of Igou Gap Road, the staff said.
The case goes before the Planning Commission on Monday at 1 p.m. at the County Courthouse.
