Gordon Burnette Johnson, 74, of Ringgold, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017. A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, he was a former employee of Shaw Industries, where he worked for 39 years in maintenance, and was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie June Johnson; mother, Betty Elizabeth Tudor Bomar; father, Joe Burnette Johnson; step-son, Russell Baggett; and two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Johnson and Wayne Bomar.
He is survived by three children, Thomas “Tommy” (Lenora) Johnson of Dalton, Dale (Tracey) Johnson of Ringgold, and Donna (Eddie) Mears of Pikeville, Tn.; step-son, David Baggett of Ringgold; two sisters, Ester Jones and Vivian Marks both of LaFayette, Ga.; three brothers, Neal Bomar of Ringgold, Andy Johnson of Ringgold, and Rickey Johnson of Georgia; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at New Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
