George Appleton
George A. Appleton, Jr., 100, of Soddy Daisy died on Thursday, November 9, 2017.
He was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Chattanooga to the late George A. and Cordelia Appleton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Elizabeth Dietzen Appleton; daughter, Mary Lavender; granddaughter, Cassidy Ann Moore; three brothers, and two sisters.
Mr. Appleton reached his goal of living to be 100 years old. He was a devoted family man who loved his family very much. He loved people and was a joy to be around. One of his favorite past times was dancing.
Mr. Appleton was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Appleton, Beth Hulbert, and Kathy Moore; son-in-law, Neal (JoAnne) Lavender; family friend, Michele McCloy; grandchildren, Sarah Chubb, Kristen Price, Chris Hulbert, Laurie Landon, and Michael Moore; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special caregiver and friend, Mary Wright..
A prayer service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Father Charlie Burton officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11-11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
