Bernice Waters Crumbley
Bernice Waters Crumbley, age 84, of Dalton, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Hamilton Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Crumbley; her parents, Druey Ki and Rachel Shugart Waters; daughter, Marla Hendricks; granddaughter, Tracy Ponders; and sisters, Mary Helen Wilson and Frances Yother.
Bernice was a member of Cedar Valley Church for many years. She worked as an inspector at Crown Cotton Mill. Bernice began working at Hamilton Medical Center where she met and married her sweet and wonderful Charlie. They attended nursing school together after their marriage achieving her lifelong dream to be a nurse. They worked in surgery until retirement. Bernice also worked at Professional Eye Associates with her beloved Dr. Barnwell, Dr. Blackman, and Dr. O’Boyle. She enjoyed her work and felt very blessed to have been able to work at a job she loved. She loved her Lord and Savior and it is her forever wish that everyone would choose Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Survivors include daughters, Jamie Holt of Resaca, and Cynthia Bowen of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Cynthia Turner of Gonzales, La.; many more cherished family members and friends also survive.
The funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 11, at 2:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Bro. John Sisson officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 5-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of her sweet Charlie or the Kidney Foundation in memory of her daughter, Marla Hendricks.
