Alva “Rose” Perry Crumley, 79, of Hixson departed her earthly home to meet her Lord and Savior on December 15, 2017 after several months of illness. Rose was born on Aril 12, 1938 to Lester C. and Alva Anderson Perry in Kingsport, TN. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her brother, Stephen Douglas Perry.

Rose is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Bill; two children,  Steven D. (Patricia) Crumley, Lisa K. (Timothy) Vincent; four grandchildren, Jonah and Alana Vincent, Sydney and Olivia Crumley all of Hixson; two siblings, brother Daniel Perry of Wichita, KS,  sister Anita Perry of Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Dobbins Bennett High School in Kingsport, TN and her life’s work was the care of her husband, children and grandchildren. Her hard work was richly rewarded as her children and grandchildren all have a personal relationship with the Lord, all are active in their churches and communities and are all successful in their careers or in school. Their life choices and successes largely due to her support, example and expectations.

Rose was an active participant in her community and in giving of herself to others. When her children attended DuPont Elementary School she was instrumental in raising the funds to purchase much needed air conditioning for the school. She was always available to help with school parties, field trips, and PTA events. As her children moved on to High School she served as the first lady of the Hixson High School Band Boosters for four years. In that role she dedicated countless hours to fund raising efforts and coordinating trips to competitions, including those to Disney World and Hawaii.

Also extremely talented in the arts, as a member of a ladies trio in high school she performed on radio and television; her calligraphy and drawings were beautiful and done as special gifts and treasures for those that were closest to her.

To her friends she was the life of the party with her quick wit and infectious laughter that will be so missed by all who love her.
