Lawsuit Filed Over "Human Stampede" At Hamilton Place Mall

  • Thursday, December 28, 2017

A woman who said she was injured in a "human stampede" at Hamilton Place Mall on Dec. 26, 2016, is suing the mall owner.

Amanda J. Marler filed the complaint in Circuit Court against CBL&Associates Properties.

Her husband, Paul Marler, also joined in the suit.

The complaint says Ms. Marler was eating in the Food Court when people began running toward her. It says she slipped and fell and was hurt.

The suit says the mall should have had procedures in place to prevent such safety concerns.

Several people were arrested in connection with setting off fireworks as a ploy during a shoplifting foray.

The suit was filed by attorney Ryan Womack.
