Jaime Ponce, M.D. and CHI Memorial Metabolic and Bariatric Care will host free seminars in January on surgical and non-surgical weight loss options. The seminars will be held at CHI Memorial Metabolic and Bariatric Care at 7405 Shallowford Road, Suite 160 in Chattanooga.

"Obesity can be devastating to a person’s health and self-esteem. These educational seminars are designed to help you better understand bariatric surgical and non-surgical options, and how it may benefit your health," officials said.

Topics include: who is a good candidate for the procedure, what to expect during the recovery period, and lifestyle changes needed to foster a successful outcome.  Walk-ins are also welcome. Attendees are asked to arrive at the seminar location 30 minutes early.

Female Inmate Dies At Bradley County Jail Monday

A female inmate was found unresponsive at the Bradley County Jail on Monday afternoon. Correctional officers and on-site medical personnel performed life saving measures, but she was later declared dead after Bradley County EMS arrived.  The inmate was 54-year-old Fawn Zanette Brandham. Federal Appeals Court Rules In Favor Of Family With Down Syndrome Child Who Sued County Schools

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of a couple with a Down syndrome child who sued the county schools.
