Eloise Brookshire Lewis, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday evening, December 5, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Eloise was born July 9, 1930 in Murray County, Ga., a daughter of the late Daniel Clay and Lillian Lois Brumbelow Brookshire. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Floyd “Fat” Lewis on March 19, 2011; her daughter, Jerrie Bramlett; and sisters, Billy Satterfield and Grace Cranmore.
Eloise was retried and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Eloise was a loving wife, mother and the best friend a person could have.
She is survived by her daughter and sons-in-law, Brenda and Ed Allison of Cleveland, and Jimmy Bramlett of Ringgold; brothers, Louie Brookshire and Archie Brookshire both of Dalton; grandsons, Clay Headrick and Jon Headrick; great-grandchildren, Lane, Hagen, Tristan, Lily and Jamie Headrick; special nephew and niece Bruce and Kayanne Satterfield of Rocky Face; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Lewis and Jerry Lewis, Ruby and Kenneth Cooper, Charlotte and Joe Dickson, Janie Horton, Daisy and Fonz Demay all of Ringgold; special friends, Ruth Rittenhouse, Mary Hawkins, Rev. Don Self and the Shadwick Family; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services to celebrate the life of Eloise Brookshire Lewis will be held Friday, Dec. 8, at 11:30 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Don Self and Reverend Billy Joe Cochran officiating. Singing will be by David Cumming and the Shadwick Family.
She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Anderson Memorial Gardens in Ringgold, with Joe Dickson, Paul Cranmore, Jr., Jimmy Bramlett, Dewayne Nanney, Mike Holsomeback and Jerome Rittenhouse serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday until the service hour.
