Cleveland Fire Department To Host Career Showcase

The Cleveland Fire Department is having its annual Career Showcase on Tuesday, at 6 p.m. for individuals interested or considering a career in firefighting.

The Career Showcase will take place at Fire Station 1 at 555 South Ocoee Street, Cleveland, Tn. 37311.

Fire department staff will discuss the application process, job duties, education, specialized training and the benefits of being a member of the Cleveland Fire Department. Staff will also discuss some of the many responsivities fire department staff perform daily including: fire, extrication, medical first response, haz-mat, high and low angle rescue and swift water rescues.

Authorities Say Hixson Man Shot And Killed His 15-Year-Old Son On Saturday Night; Also Killed Family Dog

Authorities said a Hixson man shot and killed his 15-year-old son on Saturday night. A report says Mike McElrath, 46, a former Hamilton County jailer, who was found naked at a neighbor's house, also killed the family dog. County deputies responded at 10:24 p.m. to 1846 Cotter Road. Gary Douglas, 25, was shot early Sunday morning, and Dewayne Stanley, 24, was arrested.   The Chattanooga Police Department responded at approximately  3 a.m.   to a person shot on the 4700 block of Murray Lake Lane.
