  • Friday, December 8, 2017

Dismissal for schools in Hamilton County was two hours earlier than normal Friday due to snow in the area.  Snow began falling in downtown Chattanooga around noon, but it tapered off with little accumulation.

Due to snow stopping and that which did fall beginning to melt away, after-school games and activities planned for this evening in Hamilton County will be held as planned.

Bradley County Schools dismissed at 1 p.m. today due to the weather.

Whitfield County Schools also closed early due to inclement weather. Elementary schools dismissed at noon followed by middle and high school dismissal at 1 p.m.

ACT testing scheduled for Saturday at Coahulla Creek High School, Northwest High School, and Southeast High School has been cancelled due to the weather.

Dalton, Ga., was expecting up to two inches of snow.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College officials decided around 9 a.m. that all campuses would be closed for the rest of the day.

Amber Jordan said the closure was due to roads in the area getting slushy.

Chattooga County Schools and Murray County Schools were closed for the day. Polk County Schools were also closed.

On a two-hour delay were Walker, Dade and Catoosa County Schools.
