Harlem Globetrotters Bring Tour To Chattanooga Jan. 26

Friday, December 8, 2017

The Harlem Globetrotters will bring their 2018 “Amazing Feats of Basketball World Tour” to The UTC McKenzie Arena on Friday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m.

The Harlem Globetrotters will take their show to a new level this year by celebrating the blend of basketball and entertainment which has made the team iconic. The team’s upcoming performance will showcase the high-flying, fun, and memory-making moments that the Globetrotters are known for, said officials.

The Globetrotters feature the world’s largest collection of elite dunkers, including six players who have competed in the annual College Slam Dunk contest held during Final Four weekend, a Guinness World Record holder for slam dunks, and the 2016 winner of the popular TV show “The Dunk King.”

The tour will also mark the debut of the “Flying Globies” – a trampoline dunk team with in-air stunts.

The Globetrotters include Big Easy Lofton, Hi-Lite Bruton, Ant Atkinson, and Hammer Harrison, as well as Firefly Fisher, Bull Bullard, Thunder Law and Cheese Chisholm. To match the growing popularity of the Globetrotters’ female stars, the team will feature four female players – the largest female roster in team history – including TNT Lister, Ace Jackson, Hoops Green, and Torch George.

Additionally, the 2018 tour marks the return of the Globetrotters’ longtime nemesis, the Washington Generals. After a long-standing series which saw the Generals lose over 14,000 times, the team is back from a two-year hiatus to rebuild and refocus around one goal – to beat the Globetrotters. After making its retooled debut this summer in the $2 million, winner-take-all “The Basketball Tournament,” the new-and-improved Generals are out to finally take down the Globetrotters.

Prior to every game, the Globetrotters will have pregame fan interaction with its Magic Pass. This ticketed event allows fans an opportunity to interact with the team’s stars on the court, shoot hoops, learn tricks, and pose for pictures. After the game, Globetrotter stars will be on hand for additional autograph and photo opportunities.

Tickets start at $27.50 and are now available at harlemglobetrotters.com, utc.edu/tickets, the The UTC McKenzie Arena box office, or by phone at 266-6627. Information on group and scout tickets can also be found at harlemglobetrotters.com.

Bill Lee Is Great For Tennessee

I had the opportunity to meet Bill and Maria Lee at the grand opening of his Chattanooga Campaign HQ. He delivered, what was by most accounts, a showstopper speech at the Statesman’s dinner in Nashville the night before. He and Maria should have been worn out, but if they were, they really showed very little sign of it. His energy level, for a guy that couldn’t have gotten more ... (click for more)

A Successful East Ridge Bake Sale

Saturday's event at the Camp Jordan Pavilion was nothing more than extraordinary, if not history making.  Alongside the threatening eminent domain letters the citizens of East Ridge received, a Union was formed amongst the East Ridge Police Department.  Coming to City Council the night of April 26, I had only one thing I was focused on: eminent domain.  ...
