Men Host Charlotte, Women Host Virginia Tech

  • Friday, December 8, 2017

The Chattanooga men's basketball team returns home Sunday for a matchup with Charlotte at 1 p.m. It’s a doubleheader with the women’s team matching up with Virginia Tech at 3:30 p.m.

It’s the first meeting in 45 years for the Mocs and 49ers. The two schools have played just four times in their histories with all four coming over a two-year period in the early 70s.

Coach Lamont Paris’ young crew has grown by leaps and bounds early in his tenure. While the record sits at 4-5, the squad is just a few plays away from 7-2 raising optimism heading toward the holiday break.

Charlotte is up next led by former NBA star and Georgia Tech legend Mark Price. The 49ers are 3-5 after starting 3-2 before losses to Davidson, at James Madison and Wake Forest. Much like the Mocs, they’ve played several close games that could go either way.

Makinde London leads the home team into Sunday’s matchup averaging 14.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest. He’s coming off a 25-points, 18-rebound effort at Marshall Tuesday night. The 49ers are paced by Jon Davis posting 14.3 points and 6.0 assists per game.
