Lee University’s Evangelistic Singers will present a benefit concert on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Pangle Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Struggling to reach milestones, doctors put six-week-old Levi Smith in physical therapy. It was not until he was two-years-old that he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Levi has had constant battles with lung infections and digestive issues. His family was told he would be in a wheelchair by age five.
Levi is now five-years-old and has seen many successes in the clinical trials in which he gained eligibility; he continues to walk without assistance. It is the goal of Building on Abilities to raise support to equip Levi with technology assisting him in his love for learning.
Amy Hoagland, Lee University alumnae and founder of the nonprofit, Building on Abilities, said, “Evangelistic Singers seek God through the art of worship within the genres of spirituals and both traditional and contemporary gospel music.”
The concert will offer a worship experience and an opportunity to hear more about the resources for which funds are being raised.
