Savas T. Kyriakidis
Local business owner and Ooltewah resident, Savas T. Kyriakidis, has been selected for promotion in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
The promotion ceremony will take place Saturday at Hampton Inn at Hamilton Place, 1401 Hamilton Place Blvd., at 1 p.m. The reception will follow at The Acropolis at 2213 Hamilton Place Blvd.
Lt. Kyriakidis is currently serving on active duty with the 11th Aviation Command at Fort Knox, Ky., as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate.
LTC Kyriakidis is a veteran of the wars in Iraq (where he served with the famed 101st Airborne Division under then MG David Petraeus) and Afghanistan (where he served with Special Operations). He is a graduate of McCallie and the University of the South, Sewanee (Bachelors of Arts). He graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law (Juris Doctorate), and the U.S. Army’s Judge Advocate General School’s basic course and advanced course. He has also graduated from the U.S. Army’s Staff and General War College in common core education.
He practiced law in Chattanooga for several years with the firm then of Copeland and Whittenburg, before opening the Acropolis at Hamilton Place with his family over 23 years ago.
He is a U.S. Army paratrooper, two time recipient of the U.S. Army’s Bronze Star Medal and a two time recipient of the US Army’s Meritorious Service Medal.
Administering the promotion ceremony will be General (R) B.B. Bell, along with LTC Kyriakidis’ family. Congressman Chuck Fleischman, along with LTC Kyriakidis’ children Lexie and Theo, mother Betty Kyriakidis and long-time friend Rita Lawrence, will conduct the pinning of his new rank.
