Young, Jimmy L. Sr. (Dalton)

Jimmy L. Young Sr., 81, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Claude and Doshie Brock Young.

Jimmy was a member of Salem Baptist Church and was the Mayor of Dalton from 1984 to 1987.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alice Sparks Young; son, Jim Young Jr; daughters and sons-in-law, Greta and Brad Rowland, Diane and Rodney Franklin and sister-in-law, Vivian Sparks all of Dalton; grandchildren, Russ and Chelsea Franklin, B.J. Rowland, Ally Rowland, Will Rowland and Chip Young; Jimmy is also survived by his beloved dog, Missy.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 22 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Darey Kittle officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 21 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 1448 Pleasant Grove Road, Dalton Ga. 30721.
