Support Mickey McCamish - And Response

  • Monday, February 20, 2017

Support Mickey McCamish with your vote. We need new leadership in District 2 and the city.

We reserved the pavilion at Coolidge Park for my mother's 94th birthday, left town for two weeks, and returned to find our reservation had been given to another party. After complaining about the unfair process for reservations, Jerry Mitchell intervened and offered to move the reservation to 6 p.m. Obviously, this was not workable for my elderly mother and friends. No other workable solution was offered, and no thought about changing the reservation process was suggested.

If the Chattanooga Parks reservation process can't be managed properly, how can we expect the current leadership to solve our complex city problems? My vote goes to Mickey.

City Council District 2 is a very competitive race.  I know both candidates and they are fine individuals.  However, I know one very well and would like to let you know about him, too.

I have had a long career in management and, over the course of time, have encountered truly exceptional people.  Mickey McCamish is one of these people and I am fortunate to call him friend and mentor.

Mickey’s strength is management.  He works extremely well with everyone but most importantly, he is a problem solver.

Mickey is a hero to me.  He worked his way up the Navy ladder to become a captain.  He served during Vietnam, a time not revered by most Americans.  Today, he continues to serve veterans through the Southeast Tennessee Veteran’s Coalition.  He has invested vast amounts of personal time to help and assist his military service colleagues.

Mickey spent a large part of his career as the executive director of Golf Holiday, the coordinating arm of Myrtle Beach’s golf mecca.

After he “retired” from Myrtle Beach and moved back to Chattanooga, I asked him to run our Web.com event, the Chattanooga Classic.  Currently, he coordinates all of the sponsorships for Friends of the Festival.

Besides the love of his beautiful wife, Carol and two children, Mickey also runs the Epilepsy Foundation, a cause near and dear to his heart.

When Mickey moved home to Chattanooga, he did not retire, he jumped right in.  Mickey McCamish is the right choice for City Council 2.  He is the right choice because of his business background, love for family, love for Chattanooga, military leadership, and frankly, he is just a great person to be around.

Mickey is a proven leader.  Please vote for him for Chattanooga City Council, District 2.
