William Elbert Taylor (Bill) Stevens, 83, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away in his sleep on Monday, February 20, 2017.
He was born in Spring City to William Francis Stevens and Helen Ruth Miller and raised in the Baptist Church. He attended Red Bank High School and the University of Chattanooga (now UTC ). He served in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller and went on to serve as an engineer in the testing/ development of the Saturn 5 rocket in Huntsville. He retired from Magic Chef after many years in appliance manufacturing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Loretta Bell Stevens; and one sister, Barbara Stevens Streun and her husband Samuel Streun.
He is survived by his two children, William L. Stevens of Cleveland and Catherine M. Stevens of Chattanooga; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a casual remembrance of his life at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland on Friday, February 24 from 5 to 7 p.m.
