Education Funding Should Be Transparent

  • Friday, February 24, 2017

All should agree with financial transparency with any public / private corporation that receives money from tax dollars and we know the lack that we have here in Hamilton County have concerning funding our children’s education.

Yes, CVB should be willing to yield to an independent audit without hesitation, just like when the state of Tennessee does a tax receipt audit of which many of our local businesses have had to submit to, including myself.

Even if a certain percentage of the “revenue” of the CVB is redirected towards the education budget it still wouldn’t get us to where we need to be.

I believe more needs to be known about the agreement made with the Tennessee Lottery and the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation and the bazillions of dollars collected and distributed by them.

I don’t know who negotiated the contract / agreement, but why in the world did they omit primary education from receiving lottery funds and I believe this needs to be readdressed.
