The Nashville Predators beat Colorado Avalanche 4-2 in Thursday night’s game at Bridgestone Arena. Three of those four points came from forward Filip Forsberg, in what was his second consecutive hat trick this season, claiming the first back-to-back hat trick in Predators history. Two of his points came in the second period with his last coming from an open net goal with under a minute left to play.
“He did two (hat tricks) in three games last year,” Predators Head Coach Peter Laviolette said of Forsberg in his post-game press conference.
“That is four hat tricks in five games and that is pretty impressive. He is a talented kid. I think the line is playing really well. Joey (Johansen) is playing well, Viktor (Arvidsson) has been a really good addition to that line because he works, he competes, makes plays and scores goals himself. Together they have been a pretty good trio.”
Forsberg stated after the game, “Everyone wants to contribute and help the team win. I can’t expect myself to score a hat trick every game, but I just try to work hard. And if I can score, I’ll take that as well.”
Forsberg acknowledged his line for contributing to the Preds success this year. “They deserve all the credit I can give them,” he said. “They’re truly tremendous players. Arvidsson has been unreal for us all year with his speed. And I don’t know if there’s any better passer than Johansen. I just try to get open.”
Next for the Preds are back to back home games this weekend. Saturday they face off against the Washington Capitals. On Sunday they play the Edmonton Oilers.
