Margaret Louise Westbrook Stewart, 80, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 in Soddy Daisy, TN.

Ms. Stewart was born in Trion, GA on February 29, 1936, daughter of the late Thomas Hamilton “Hamp” Westbrook and Olivia Elizabeth Brown Westbrook. She was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church, where she was active for many years. Ms. Stewart was a 1954 graduate of Trion High School, and was active in the Alumni Association, helping many students to receive college scholarships. She earned her A.S. Degree from Reinhardt College, her B.S. Degree from Georgia Teachers College, and earned her Master’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She was a member of the Georgia State Teachers Retirement Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. Ms. Stewart was a retired teacher and coach from Jonesboro High School. She coached numerous sports and worked with the youth at Jonesboro United Methodist Church. She touched many lives during her life as evidenced by the many calls, cards and visits she received from family, friends, fellow teachers and former students.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Stewart was preceded in death by brothers, George Gaylord Westbrook, C. Ralph Brown, and Glen Westbrook; nephew, Rob Westbrook; and nieces, Kay B. Scott and Dinky W. Warren.

Ms. Stewart is survived by nieces and nephews, Edwina and Rick Montgomery, Catherine and Gene McNabb, Tom Westbrook, Tim and Debbie Westbrook, Chris Westbrook, Michelle Warren, Danielle Croom, John Westbrook, David and Cindy Westbrook, Butch Westbrook and Christy Taylor; sister-in-law, Linda Westbrook; and numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral Services for Ms. Stewart will be held Tuesday, February 28, at 11 a.m. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Skip Mitchell and Rev. Dan Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews.

Ms. Stewart will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday, February 27 from 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trion United Methodist Church, 810 Pine Street, Trion, GA 30753 or to the Mary Ellen Locher Breast Cancer Center, 605 Glenwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
