Treasurer Encourages Eligible Property Owners To Seek Property Tax Relief

As Property Tax Deadline Nears, City Urges Those Eligible To Apply

The city of Chattanooga’s property tax deadline is Tuesday, and City Treasurer Theresa Lee wants to remind citizens of a property tax relief program, which is open to eligible property owners including the elderly, people with disabilities, veterans living with disabilities, and others. The tax relief is a payment by the State of Tennessee to reimburse certain homeowners who meet the legal requirements, for a portion or all of property taxes. Eligible property owners will still receive a tax bill, but if accepted into the program, will receive a property tax relief voucher. 

For citizens paying property taxes, the city offers these multiple payment options:
Mail: City Treasurer, PO BOX 191, Chattanooga, TN 37401-0191
In person at City Hall or First Tennessee Bank branches
City Hall regular office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Online at chattanooga.gov
