General B.B. Bell To Speak At Elder Scholars Meeting March 28

  • Tuesday, February 28, 2017

General B.B. Bell will speak on Current World Risks at the second March meeting for Elder Scholars.  The meeting will be held Tuesday, March 28, from 1-2:30 p.m. in the UTC University Center Signal Mountain Room.

This is a follow up to the session that General Bell held in February.  Based on the overwhelming feedback from this first session, the General has agreed to return and discuss the “Current World Risks”.

There are four 4 star generals retired in the Chattanooga area, including General Bell.  General Bell graduated from Oak Ridge High School and then from UTC with a degree in Business Administration.  He was commissioned as an Armor/Tank 2nd lieutenant after school.  His initial assignment was to lead units patrolling the Iron Curtain between East and West Germany.  He had a number of command position including the U.S. Army Armor Center /Fort Knox, Army’s III Corps in Fort Hood, Texas, and was promoted to four-star general and commanded the US Army, Europe and 7th Army in Germany. He then commanded U.S Korea – Combined Forces and the United Nations Command.  He also was deployed as General Schwarzkopf’s Executive Officer in Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  He has received 29 awards and decorations during his military career with the ARMY.   He retired from the Army in 2008 after 39 distinguished years of service, but he is never really retired.

Membership in Elder Scholars is free to everyone over 55. Parking is free at UTC in Lot 7 at the corner of Douglas and East 5th Street or in the Fifth Street parking garage (high rise parking). When parking in either of these locations, place a copy of an Elder Scholars announcement in the window of the car.

Several meet at noon in the University Center for lunch together.  They will be in the corner over by the windows, near the door facing Vine Street.
