Howard High School and other local classrooms will benefit from the financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs of Junior Achievement of Chattanooga, thanks to a $25,000 donation from SunTrust Foundation.

"Junior Achievement’s volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12th grade programs use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. With the help of more than 500 local volunteers, JA students develop the skills they need to experience the realities and opportunities of work and entrepreneurship in the 21st-century global marketplace," officials said.

“SunTrust’s partnership with Junior Achievement greatly enhances our efforts to reach more students with the message of owning their financial success,” said Brigette Thurman, Junior Achievement of Chattanooga’s president.
“Promoting fiscal responsibility and financial stability benefits our community as a whole, and we appreciate SunTrust’s support as we strive to empower students with the knowledge they need to become productive citizens and future leaders.”

"The SunTrust Foundation is dedicated to the company’s purpose of Lighting the Way to Financial Well-Being by engaging organizations to advance financial confidence.  Grants and activities focus primarily on financial empowerment, but also include education, health and human services, civic improvement, and cultural growth.  Established in 2008, the SunTrust Foundation has proudly provided grants totaling more than $100 million throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions," officials said.
