Ailene Garner Hughes Celebrates Her 104th Birthday

Ailene Garner Hughes will celebrate her 104th birthday on Saturdy at 2 p.m. at 7302 Kenmoor Dr.

Mrs. Hughes was born Feb. 13, 1913 in Spring Garden, Ala.  She moved to Chattanooga when she was young.

She married Raymond Hughes and they had three children - James, Mary, and William. She resided 220 North Hickory St. for over 60 years. Mrs. Hughes now lives with her daughter Mary Hughes-Adams. 

Mrs. Hughes attended Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. She retired from Central Soya. After retiring, Mrs. Hughes worked as the cook at Stanley Day Care. 

Mrs. Hughes has 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 29 great-great-grandchildren.
