Shelbia Jean Yates Mackenzie, 79, of Dalton, Georgia, died on Monday morning, February 6, 2017 at the Morningside of Dalton Assisted Living.

Shelbia was born September 5, 1937 in Arab, AL to the late Romer and Elzie Landers Williams; and was also preceded in death by her husband, George Yates; and siblings, Lavon Williams, Lavada Hornsby, Dean Breedwell and Virginia Cooley.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Mackenzie of Dalton, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy Yates of Arlington, TX and Wesley and Tonya Yates of Cottontown, TN; daughters and son-in-law, Leesa and Jeff Black of Flower Mound, TX and Angela Yates of St. Simmons, GA; sisters, Mag Wilson of Albertville, AL and Bobbie Adams of Dallas, TX; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Shelbia Jean Yates Mackenzie will be held Wednesday February 8, at 6 p.m. from the Riverbend Church of Christ with Tyler Gilreath officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation at support.pdf.org/tulip and search in her name Shelbia Yates Mackenzie.

Arrangements are by locally owned and operated Ponders Melrose Chapel.
