CLEARWATER, Fla. --- The Chattanooga Mocs softball team couldn't build on yesterday's momentum as they fell 6-4 to Fairfield in the final game of the USF Spring Break Classic in Clearwater, Fla., at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex.

Game Recap | Fairfield 6, Chattanooga 4
Fairfield scored an unearned run in the top of the first after a fielding error allowed a base runner on and eventually came around the bases two batters later.

Chattanooga erupted for four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead. Amanda Beltran led the inning off with a walk and advanced to second on a Halie Williamson single to right center. After both runners moved up a base on a ground out, Hayleigh Weissenbach delivered an RBI single through the right side tto tie the game up 1-1. Aly Walker doubled down the left field line to bring both runners across and Ashley Conner followed her up in the next at-bat with a double of her own, scoring Walker and taking a 4-1 lead.

The Stags answered with three of their own in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 4-4. Fairfield loaded the bases and scored a runner via a walk and then scored their second and third runs of the inning off a UTC throwing error.

Fairfield plated the go-ahead runs in the top of the seventh after two straight hits and a throwing error allowed one runner to score which gave way to an RBI single up the middle, putting the Stags in front 6-4. The Mocs would get the first two batters on base in the home half of the seventh, but failed to drive them home. It was the first loss for Chattanooga this season when they led after the fourth inning. (9-0)
