Homer L. McClure, 90, of Dalton, Georgia, died on Saturday March 18, 2017 at his residence.
Homer was born Aug. 21, 1926 in Ellijay, GA, to the late Ruben and Nilla Thompson McClure; and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie McClure; brothers, Efford McClure, Ardell McClure, sisters, Vircil Parker, Viola Walker, Lona Garland and Zennia McDougal.
He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Gilmer County, GA. He was retired from J & J Carpets. He loved doing yard work, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ora Lee Jones McClure of the residence; brothers and sister-in-law, Price McClure, Harold McClure, Harvey and Jo McClure of Ellijay, GA; brother-in-law, Sam McDougal of Huntsville, AL; several special nieces and nephews; and numerous close friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Brother Homer L. McClure will be held Tuesday March 21, at 11 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bobby Timms, Reverend Billy Joe Cochran and Reverend Cecil Townley officiating. Interment services will follow at 2 p.m. in the Hipps Chapel Cemetery in Blue Ridge, GA, with his nephews serving as pallbearers. All his pastor friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Monday, March 20.
