Lee pitcher Rob Gustitus has been named the Gulf South Conference (GSC) pitcher of the week. The junior right-hander hurled a complete seven-inning game in the Flames’ 8-1 victory over long-time rival Shorter University this past Saturday.

Gustitus, who played his high ball at Detroit Catholic Central, threw 125 pitches, allowing only three hits and no earned runs.

He fanned five Hawk hitters and walked three as Lee improved to 17-9 overall and 8-7 in GSC play.

The Flames are scheduled to play a single non-conference game at Trevecca University on Wednesday. The first pitch is slated for 7 p.m. (EDT). Lee moves back into the heated GSC action this weekend, hosting Valdosta State University in a three-game series. The first pitch of Saturday’s doubleheader is slated for a 2 p.m. opening pitched while Sunday’s single nine-inning contest begins at 1 p.m.
