Alpha Beta ESA Holds Installation, Announces Activities

Members of Alpha Beta ESA met for their annual planning meeting that included installation of officers and discussion about upcoming activities.

Elected officers for the 2017-2018 years include Shirley Walker, president; Betty Jolly and Ann Bradley, co-vice-presidents; Angela VanAllman, secretary; Adele Shaw, treasurer; Linda Gearinger, parliamentarian; Sue Beebe and Wanda Collins, philanthropic co-chairs; Cathy Walker, education chair; Karen Anderson, ways and means chair; Lorrie Haufe, social chair; and Nancy Peterson, Jonquil girl. Lori Gearinger and Joy Rathman were welcomed as new members.

Milestone memberships were announced for Betty Jolly, 65 years; Ann Bradley, 55 years; Sue Beebe, 30 years; Lorrie Haufe, 20 years; Linda Gearinger, 15 years; and Margaret Horten, 10 years. Pins will be awarded during State convention at the end of this month. Sixty-four year member Bobbie Crow, age 87, who passed away on March 4, will be honored during the memorial ceremony at the convention. 

Chapter members look forward to the upcoming 2017 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. Alpha Beta members met up with other Chattanooga area chapter members for ticket sale training on March 15, the date when sales officially opened. Since March 15 more than 3,000 tickets have been sold. Tours at the 2017 Dream Home, located at Eagle Bluff Woods community off Highway 58 in Chattanooga, begin May 20. The home has an estimated value of $650,000. Tickets sell for $100 each. This year, there will be 9,500 tickets available.

The 30th annual Taster’s Luncheon will be held on Sept. 30. Chaired by first-year member Tara Gonzalez, committee members include Angela VanAllman, Lori Gearinger, Lorrie Haufe, Betty Proctor, Linda Gearinger, Adele Shaw, Shirley Walker, Betty Jolly, and Margaret Horten.

ESA is a leadership service organization. Alpha Beta is the oldest of five chapters located in the Chattanooga area. Alpha Beta conducts its business meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday monthly, meeting at Chattanooga State Community College. New members are welcome.
