James Frost
Lee University faculty members James Frost, tenor, and Dr. ChoEun Lee, piano, will present a recital on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Squires Recital Hall, located in Lee’s Humanities Center.
The evening’s performance will include the complete song cycle of Franz Schubert’s “Die schöne Müllerin.”
Mr. Frost, associate professor of music at Lee since 2007, has performed in Germany as well as at various opera companies in the United States such as the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Boston Lyric Opera, the Kennedy Center’s Washington Opera Company, and the Central City Opera House Association in Colorado. In 1987, Frost received an offer to become a member of the Stadttheater Hildesheim ensemble in Hildesheim, Germany.
Mr. Frost holds a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. He currently teaches applied voice and directs the Opera Theatre at Lee University.
A native of Korea and assistant professor of collaborative piano and vocal coaching at Lee University, Dr. Lee is an active pianist, vocal coach, and chamber musician. In addition to working extensively in recitals and masterclasses with renowned musicians, she has given numerous performances in Korea, the U.S., Germany, Austria, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand, and in major venues including Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Music Festival and Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca. Lee was invited twice to Tanglewood Music Festival, and she has been named a recipient of the Grace B. Jackson Prize.
Dr. Lee holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Southern California, a Master of Music from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and a Bachelor of Music from KyungWon University.
