GNTC’s Spring Plant Sale Extended To 4 Days, April 18-21

  • Thursday, March 23, 2017
The Spring Plant Sale at Georgia Northwestern Technical College, an annual event that celebrates spring and the end of the cold weather, is extended to four days this year and will take place April 18-21.

On Tuesday, April 18, the sale will be held from 1 p.m.-6 p.m. and then from Wednesday, April 19, to Thursday, April 20, the sale will last all day from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. The last day of the sale will be a half-day on Friday, April 21, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The sale, hosted by GNTC’s Horticulture program, was extended from two days in previous years to provide customers with additional time to make a selection.
The first three days the sale will be open until 6 p.m. to give more people a chance to come by after work.

“We have a lot more plants this year and we have grown it all ourselves from seed or cuttings,” said David Warren, director of Horticulture at GNTC. “We have changed from last year in that we have more of a production greenhouse this year.”

Items being sold include a large selection of annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, hanging baskets, blooming plants, and potted geraniums. The vegetables will include tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, eggplants, and more.

“We will have various varieties of all the plants,” said Mr. Warren. “There are probably five or six different varieties of petunias, three or four different kinds of marigolds, and four or five kinds of tomatoes.”

The sale will take place at the greenhouses located across from GNTC’s Floyd County Campus, next to the Woodlee Building. All proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the Horticulture program at GNTC. Purchases may be made with cash or check.
