The annual Doggie-1000-Egg Hunt at the McKamey Animal Center, located at 4500 North Access Road in Chattanooga will be
Saturday April 8, starting promptly at
10:30 a.m. Early registration is encouraged starting at
9:30 a.m. The cost of the event is $5 per dog or two cans of dog food per dog entered.
The donated canned food is used for the residents at the McKamey Animal Center, home to over 6000 homeless animals annually.
According to Volunteer Coordinator Karen Wilson, "This is one of our most popular events for all dogs, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes." To ensure an even playing field for all dogs, there will be three fields divided according to the size of the dogs. "There are individual hunt fields for small, medium, and large breed dogs. Staff will be hiding over 1000 eggs total". The eggs are packed with goodies and treats for the dogs who find them. All dogs must be on a leash at all times.
In addition to the egg hunt, McKamey will be offering reduced price micro-chipping for dogs at $10 per dog. Micro-chipping is a sure way for owners to reunite with lost pets, as micro-chips are a permanent form of identification.
