Edward “Ed” Setters, 90, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 24, 2017 in a local nursing facility.

He was born on February 12, 1927 in Kentucky, and he moved to Tennessee in 1970. He served his country in the Marine Corps and was on President Truman’s personal honor guard. All that knew Ed, knew his love for Jesus Christ. He was a faithful Christian and an ordained Church of God minister. Throughout his time, he was able to bring many souls to The Lord through his fervent, loving heart. Along with ministering, he loved gospel music and animals. He could not see a stray cat without wanting to adopt it. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy “Dot” Standering Setters; daughters, Pamela Hixon (David) and Sue Levermon (Edward); son, Tommy Standering; brothers, Henry Setters, Paul Setters and John Setters; granddaughter, Missye Lewis; great-grandchildren, Blake Lewis, Bradley Lewis and Brandon Lewis; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.

A graveside service is planned for 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday March 28, in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Loyle Hicks officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 27, from 5-7 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW.
