Lee Competes In Tennessee Rust Buster Track Meet

The Lee University Track & Field teams finished their weekend with a trip to the University of Tennessee Rust Buster at Tom Black Track. The two squads combined to reach two new provisional marks and improve upon another.

Adrian Martin met the provisional standard in the 200-meter dash with a fifth-place time of 24.24. The time to beat was 24.53. She also placed sixth (12.00) in the 100-meter dash.

Josiah Brooks finished the 200-meter dash in 21.38 (fourth), surpassing the provisional time of 21.50. He also improved his standing in the triple jump with a fourth-place distance of 15.04 meters. He had already provisionally-qualified with a mark of 14.92 at the Emory Invitational. His time of 10.69 in the 100-meter dash put him in third.

Justin Brooks finished first and met the provisional mark in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.40. His best time of the season was 47.39 at the Emory Invitational. Hannah Buttolph placed third in the high jump of 1.65 meters. Her mark was just shy of the provisional standard of 1.68 meters. He finished the 200-meter dash in eighth (21.57).

Cayce Bryan, Jessica Childers, Lacey Duvall and Charlee Boxall finished in the top-nine of the 800-meter run. Bryan was third (2:14.71) with Childers right behind in fourth (2:15.96). Duvall crossed the line at 2:20.62 (eighth) and Boxall was ninth (2:21.03).

Boxall joined Audrey Smith, Amy Carpenter, Lily Fell and Becca Umbarger in the 1500-meter run. Smith was sixth at 4:46.07 and Boxall finished 10th (4:49.22). Carpenter placed 14th (4:59.58), Fell was 20th (5:11.28) and Umbarger was 21st (5:13.44).

Five Flames finished in the top-25 of the 1500-meter run. Christian Noble finished the distance at 3:55.19 for third. Brandon Raleigh was eighth (4:06.32) and Tucker Hindle placed 12th (4:09.57). Moises Ponce stopped the clock at 4:11.11 (18th) and James Guthrie was 25th (4:17.14).

Alex Carter was the lone Flame in the 800-meter run. The sophomore was 16th with a time of 1:57.83.
Carpenter recorded a time of 10:43.18 to finish seventh in the 3000-meter run. Logan Hernandez was 10th (10:57.52) and Umbarger placed 11th (10:58.13). Madison Hodges finished at 11:35.77 (18th) and Elizabeth Sillcocks was 32nd (12:22.85).

Jordan Allison was fifth (1:04.92) in the 400-meter hurdles and 22nd (16.55) in the 100-meter hurdles. The freshman also participated in the long jump and finished 27th with a leap of 4.89 meters.

Blakely Moore ran in the 3000-meter steeplechase. She finished second with a time of 12:30.65. In the men’s race, Thomas Kelton was fourth (10:00.12).

In the field events, Alexis Stevens finished 11th (20.05 meters) in the javelin throw and Camilla Sims ws 14th (11.99 meters) in the shot put.

Chase Warren recorded a throw of 9.31 meters to finish 23rd in the shot put, while Matthew Wilson ws 25th with a distance of 9.04 meters.
