Kazy, Thelma G. Prater (Cleveland)

Thelma G. Prater Kazy, 84, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at her home.

She was a long time employee of J. H. Kellman. Thelma loved blue grass/gospel music. She was a long time member of Phillippi Baptist Church. 

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Kazy; and parents James & Willie Prater. 

Thelma is survived by her daughter Brenda Taylor (Tommy), Denise Stuman (David) and Kay Jellies (Richard Chiusano); one son Jim Kazy (Diane) all of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including Joyce Lamm and Marilynn Brown. 

A celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday, March 28 at 8 p.m. at the Phillippi Church with the Reverend Sammy Hooker officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 5-8 p.m. service time.

On Wednesday, March 29, the family will gather back at Phillippi Baptist Church at 1 p.m. and process to the Chattanooga National Cemetery for a 2 p.m. committal and interment service. Pallbearers include D.J. Stuman, Josh Jellies, Jeremy Kazy, Nathan Millsaps, Alex Millsaps, Tate Loftis, Calvin Millsaps and Ben Kazy. 

Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
