Antonio Matthews
Antonio Lee Jason Matthews, 76, was born in Forsythe, Georgia, and moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee,at a very early age. He passed away at a nursing home in Monteagle, Tennessee, on March 20, 2017.
He attended Howard High School, and was employed at Moccasin Bend Sewer Plant, where he retired. He was a member of Rock Island Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading, taking pictures, fishing and talking about loving his family.
He was preceded in death by his ex-wife; Emma Lee Mathews, and wife; Velma Matthews, mother; Lucile Battle, father; Early Mathews, grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Rutherford Sr. all of Chattanooga. Grandmother; Amy Mathews of Forsythe, GA, brother; Terry Matthews.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Wanda Denise Mathews, of Chattanooga, sister; Linda F. Mathews Stubbs, step-sister; Amy Mathews, step-brother; Aaron Mathews, all of Chattanooga; three grandchildren; Cynthia McGee, Shawnquell Bryant, and Perry Evans; Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren, all of Chattanooga, a host of family and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 31, at 1 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home.
