Retired From Combustion Engineering Company After 29 Years

Ernest Morris “Ernie” Giles, Jr., 74, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.

He had lived in Chattanooga for over 46 years and retired from Combustion after 29 years. Ernie later retired from the Department of Corrections as a probation officer. He was a member of Bayside Baptist Church and was an avid Tennessee fan.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest M. Giles, Sr. and Nannie Lee Cates Giles.

Mr. Giles is survived by his sons, John Giles of Chattanooga, Jeffery Giles of Atlanta and David (Robin) Giles of Grand Blanc, Michigan; sister, Mitzi Pagel Burns of Columbia, Tennessee; grandchildren, Samantha, Andrew and Preston Giles; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 31, from 2–8 p.m. and on Saturday, April 1, from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m. in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home. Pastor Eric Stitts will officiate the service. Ernie will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
