Ruth Ellen Wilhoite, 59, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 18, 2017.  

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was of the Christian faith. She loved the Tennessee Vols, playing cards and going to the park with her grandchildren. She was a devoted sister, mother and grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew her.  
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Henrietta McCurry.
 
Survivors include her children, Jonathan Wilhoite and Katie McCary and (fiancé, Eric Smith) all of Soddy Daisy; two brothers, Paul McCurry and Daryl McCurry, both of Chattanooga; sister, Sheila Heyde of Rossville; two grandchildren, Courtney Wilhoite and Aiden Smith; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
 
The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes with a gathering to take place in the funeral home parlor at 8 p.m. that night to celebrate Ms. Wilhoite’s life.  Burial will be private.
