The Lee University women’s lacrosse team lost the first of consecutive scheduled Gulf South Conference games against The University of Alabama in Huntsville by a 27-2 score Thursday afternoon at Charger Park. The Lady Flames (0-10, 0-5 GSC) and Chargers (10-3, 4-0 GSC) are scheduled to play at Lee’s South Quad Field on Apr. 4 at 4 p.m. EDT.
UAH posted 20 goals in the opening 30 minutes to carry a 20-0 lead into the halftime break. The Chargers added four more to take a 24-0 lead.
With just under 10 minutes left in the game, Hanah Rotello ended UAH’s shutout hopes with a goal from a free position shot. Rotello added a second goal just before the final horn sounded to supply the final margin. The junior is now tied with Brianne Schapira for the team lead with 13 goals.
Nicole Federovitch led the hosts with eight goals and an assist. Jenna Carr added six goals, while Megan Hartnett and Shannon Kruse scored three goals each.
