Covenant Golf 15th At Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate

- In a tournament field that features 14 of the top 50 ranked teams in the latest GolfStat rankings, the Covenant men's golf team sits in 16th after shooting a 319 in the first round of the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate on Monday.

No. 1-ranked Huntingdon leads the field with a 296, while 13th-ranked Emory is second at 297. Covenant is just three strokes back of No. 35 Birmingham Southern, while holding leads over USA South members Maryville and Averett heading into Tuesday's final round.

Alan Craig led the charge for the Scots with his 77 in the first round.
Craig capped his round with a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole to sit in a tie for 35th overall in the event. Nathan Hawkins and Marshall Kent are both tied for 51st overall after carding 79s on Monday. Kent collected a pair of birdies on the day. 

Josh Wall posted an 84 for the round, while Ian Johnson shot an 89.

Connor Yakobuv of Emory is the individual clubhouse leader as he shot a 2-under, 70 in the first round. Harry Nodwell of Christopher Newport and Tommy Oliver of Sewanee were the only two other players to shoot under par in the opening round as both shot a 71.

The final round of the tournament will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
