Geraldine Goodson Stansell, 90, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017.
A native of LaFayette, she was born on July 21, 1926 to the late Leonard Goodson and Annie Wood Baker. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of LaFayette and a member of the LaFayette Optimist Club. She enjoyed living retired on her farm with her birds and animals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carlton Stansell.
Survivors are her daughters, Claudia Greene and Iris Tracy; four grandchildren, Kellie Kanipe, Mendy Short, Chad Tracy and Clay Tracy; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha Short, Hunter Short, Lauren Kanipe, Rhett Kanipe, Clint Tracy, Brennan Tracy and Jax Tracy; and step-brother, Don Goodson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 9 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of LaFayette with Dr. Warren Moorhead officiating. Interment to follow in LaFayette City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Buddy Chapman, David Cameron, David Bomar, Terry Thompson, John Ashley, and Greg Ramey.
Visitation at the First Baptist Church Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
Flowers are welcome or donations may made in lieu of flowers to the First Baptist Church Choir.
