Starry Mountain Singers
An evening with the sounds of the Starry Mountain Singers, presented by Crabtree Farms, Bridge Refugee Services and Neema Resettlement Ministries, will be held Thursday, March 16, at 7 p.m. The Starry Mountain Singers are an eight-person a cappella ensemble who perform traditional music from around the world, with the goal of connecting communities and different cultures through song.
Christie Burns, a local musician and teacher, helped make this event possible through her connection with one of the group members, Gideon Crevoshay, whom she met through the One Beat organization.
“Gideon reached out and asked about hosting the group for a show, but to do something special with it that would be a little more community oriented,” Ms. Burns said. “So the idea of having it at Crabtree, at the Evelyn Center, ever since they first opened it I’d been thinking how beautiful it would be to hear music in there.”
“We’re trying to broaden it out a little bit, and let people share foods from their backgrounds, their family heritage,” Ms. Burns said.
“I’ve known Crabtree to be a really awesome place where different circles of people intersect,” Ms. Burns said. “It’s such a friendly environment.”
This event is by donation with the proceeds going directly to support the event.
