The Lee University Small Jazz Ensemble will perform its spring concert in the Dixon Center on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., under the direction of Dr. Nathan Warner and Keith Brown. 

The evening will feature works by Chick Corea, Kenney Garrett, Roy Hargrand, and Horace Silver. 

The ensemble will include performances by Lee students Robert Acevedo, Jacob Coleman, Tim Ferguson, Caroline Hamby, Josh Hill, Austin Morgan, Jalil Muhammed, Luke Wild, and Matthew Zalusky. 

The Lee University Jazz Ensemble performs traditional and recent literature for small jazz ensembles. The ensemble includes rhythm, saxophones, trumpet, and vocals. A frequent award winner at national festivals, the ensemble performs for campus, school, and civic events. 

Dr. Warner, assistant professor of music at Lee, earned his doctor of musical arts in trumpet performance from Stony Brook University in New York. He performs regularly as a classical, orchestral, commercial, big band, and jazz artist in New York City, where he lived for 15 years. He has performed with the Chattanooga Symphony, the Knoxville Symphony, Lady Antebellum, Doc Severinsen, Peter Cetera, Clay Aiken, The Temptations, Olivia Newton-John, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Lauren Daigle, among others. 

A pianist, composer, bassist, and educator, Mr. Brown is a full-time faculty member in Lee’s School of Music. He was invited to Meudon, France, to record his debut jazz CD titled “Sweet and Lovely.” This CD was released worldwide. Brown has shared the stage with great artists such as Mike Clark, Jeff Coffin, Essiet Essiet, and Bill Mobley. He earned his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in music from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
