The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s track team will close out the regular season this weekend at the Auburn War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Ala.

“We are excited to be able to compete this weekend,” Chattanooga head coach Andy Meyer said. “This will be our last tune up before the Southern Conference meet in May. “We hope to have many strong and solid performances this weekend.”

Freshman Rebekah Wich (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) will kick things off Friday night in the women’s 5000 meter invitational after her PR time qualified her for the field.
The remainder of events will take place Saturday beginning with freshman Haley Morris (Lenoir City, Tenn.) in the 3000 meter Steeplechase just after noon local time.

Sophomore Mercedes Bright (Kingsport, Tenn.) will compete in both the 100m and 200m dash events. Joining her in the 200m will be freshmen Taylor Sawyer (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Kelsey Henry (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) who will also be in the 400 meter dash.

Junior Hannah Chamblin (Memphis, Tenn.) and freshmen Abby Bateman (Jefferson City, Tenn.), Maddie Christian (Lenoir City, Tenn.) and Madison Watson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) will compete in the 800 meter run. Freshmen Julia Henderson (Brentwood, Tenn.), Hannah Caldwell (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Nicole Buehrle (Sugarloaf, Pa.) will highlight the 1500 meter run.

Junior Anna Kate Chance (Columbia, Tenn.), sophomore Brianna Nelson (Jefferson, Wis.) and freshman Sydney Gilliam (Brentwood, Tenn.) will run the 5000 meter on Saturday. The Mocs will close the meet with two teams in the 4x400 meter relay.

“The kids have put in some great workouts since the Alabama meet,” Meyer said. “This should give them some confidence and motivation heading into this weekend.”
