Chattanooga Lookouts Nick Gordon hit a towering three-run single off of the right field wall in the sixth inning to secure a 6-3 win over the Shuckers. The Lookouts have now won five out of seven games.
Chattanooga hitters pounded out 11 hits in the win.
The Shuckers jumped out to an early lead on a first inning homer by Michael Reed.
They added two more runs in the second on a sacrifice bunt and a ground out. After allowing three runs (one unearned) starting pitcher Paul Clemens settled in and threw four straight scoreless innings. He finished the night striking out seven batters in six frames.
Down three in the third Chattanooga started to mount a comeback. After Levi Michael was hit by a pitch Nick Gordon doubled to put runners on second and third for Engelb Vielma. Vielma then delivered in a big moment with a two-run single.
In the fourth the Lookouts tied it up on a Ryan Walker RBI single.
The game remained tied until the sixth when the home squad loaded the bases for Gordon. With one out the Twins number one prospect belted a long fly ball to right field. The ball bounced off of the wall to clear the bases, but the infielder got thrown out at second.
Now leading the Lookouts bullpen took over and shut down Biloxi. Reliever Todd Van Steensel entered in the seventh and struck out four batters in 2 1/3innings. Curtiss relieved Van Steensel in the ninth and earned his second save.
