Last year Bonny Oaks School established the last Saturday of every April as the annual date to “Gather at the Statue” for all alumni, friends, staff, and families.
"The gathering is a celebration of life for those we lost the year(s) before," officials said.
The Statue, donated and erected by alumni in 2014, is on the former grounds of The Bonny Oaks School located at the Bonny Oaks Arboretum (“Circle”), Bonny Oaks Drive at Adamson Circle, in Chattanooga. Date and time for the second annual get-together is Saturday, April 29 at 11:30 a.m.
Alumnus Pete Hale will be the master of ceremonies. "Pete is going to help us keep pace so everyone who wants to speak can be heard. There are no designated speakers or timed programs, but everyone is encouraged to participate as we visit and remember our Bonny Oaks brothers and sisters who are no longer with us. The gathering is informal and casual so please bring your own chairs, lunches, and refreshments," organizers said.
Questions regarding the gathering may be sent to Christine Haven at texasbonny@yahoo.com. Updates will be posted on Facebook’s Bonny Oaks Friends page and www.bonnyoaks.org.
