Billy Jack “Punk” Heard, 80, received his new body and entered into eternal life on Sunday, April 23, 2017, while surrounded by his family.

Punk was a Daisy boy at heart, and always said he married “the only good thing that came from Soddy.” He loved the city of Soddy Daisy and prided himself on helping others. On any given day you could find him at the head table at Wimpies, tinkering in the yard at home, or loaning out his time or equipment to friends.

Punk attended Sunday school and was a member of Sequoyah Baptist Tabernacle and just recently received assurance of his salvation. He provided faithfully for his family as a truck driver for 35+ years before retiring and beginning to work at P&S Concrete. As he was known on the road, “Baldy” was a walking, talking, driving almanac. He visited 45 of the 50 states, as well as Canada and the Bahamas.

His parents, John and Myrtle Starr; two brothers, R.V. Heard and James Thompson and a sister, Nettie Sue Morrison, preceded him in death.

He was loved and survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Mills Heard and two daughters, Suzanne (Michael) Dent and Amy (Randy) Duncan; his grandchildren, Courtney and Taylor Dent, Makayla and Katie Hamby, Katie Dye and Jordan Duncan; all loved him more than anything, as did his three furry grand-pups, Finley, Bea, and Gilbert (whom he secretly loved as well); a sister, Kathryn Whittenburg and several nieces and nephews..

He raised and showed horses for many years and was an honorary member of the Saddle Pals Riding club. Soddy Daisy commissioners honored Punk by asking that he be Grand Marshall of the 2016 Christmas parade. They also named March 2nd as “Punk Heard Day” in Soddy Daisy. The impact he left on his family and friends will forever be missed, but his family has comfort in knowing they will see him again one day.

Services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Stewart officiating, Buddy Collier delivering the eulogy and Bishop Calvin Nunley and Reverend David Stancil offering prayers. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. on Tuesday, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Condolences and memories can be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.

Arrangements are by Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, 8852 Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379.
